Default Do you have backups?

Can you believe it – the frames on my eyeglasses just broke. And they were made of Titanium. Of course, I’ve worn them every day for 11 years! So I guess they don’t owe me anything. The company no longer makes an identical frame, so I’m forced to drop the big bucks ($670).

My only backups are prescription Oakley sunglasses ....... not very useful with night approaching. I am hoping to mend the old ones using JB Weld. They broke where a lens frame meets the ear arm, so I had to goop it on good. It could be a LONG 4 or 5 days if it doesn't work but if it does I will have backups.

I saved my old glasses. Good thing I did. I dropped my current glasses in my friends driveway and he backed over them. Titanium frames didn't help.

Same here. I always hope that nothing happens when I'm on vacation away from home.

Dave, I had similar problem with more than one pair of Silhouette 'hingeless' titanium eyeglasses. And yes, the darn things ARE super expensive. The ultimate solution was cataract surgery (both eyes) and now all I need is a pair of $3 'readers'. The titanium frames just aren't all they are cracked up to be... the results of the surgery have been nothing short of amazing.

fortunately I only need reading glasses which I literally buy in a four pack.
they're scattered about everywhere.
although every once in a while they suddenly all seem to congregate at the same place and i have pile of 4 or 5 sets.

Actually, my comment about titanium was tongue in cheek. Seeing as I have been wearing them since 2004 and I've bent them, forced them into helmets, and you name it, so I really can't complain. I'm not ready yet for cataract surgery but it's likely in my future.

I now have backups. I ordered the new glasses late Thursday afternoon and got my new pair today, Tuesday morning. In the meantime, my JB Weld fix did work although the frames didn't set right on my face. I really didn't want to try bending the old for fear I'd break them again. So today, after getting the new, I asked the lady to do it. She was very reluctant but did it right, so they are good too.
