Does anyone read anymore
I haven't seen a book thread in a long time, so I thought I would start one.
I just finished a book called "Dog Days" by Jon Katz.
He is an author from the New Jersey/New York area that moved to upstate New York and bought 100 acres or so (Bedlam Farm). It's essentially his account of a slice of his life on the farm and his animals (dogs, sheep, two cows, and four donkeys). It is also about the people he has met and befriended.
If you are a dog lover (especially border collies), or an animal lover, you will love the book.

I just bought two books today. New Age stuff. One was recommended to me at the New Jersey meet in August and I finally picked it up today. The other one I saw and wanted.
For dog books I read Marley And Me. About a lab and how he becomes part of the family. I liked it.

I'm reading a pulitzer prize winner: The Known World by Edward P. Jones -- Deb, this guy lives in DC. Maybe he's your neighbor
. It is an interesting read about a black farmer and former slave who becomes a slave owner himself. I'm enjoying it. I just finished Einstein, His Life and Universe, by Walter Isaacson. It was great.
I've also started a purely fun read, Cross, by James Patterson. Reading is a passion and I've always got something going. I have a huge stack of Scifi/mystery novels that should keep me busy over the winter.

Currently reading "The Boys' Crusade" by Paul Fussell, a retelling of the northwestern European campaign in WWII. I boaught it mostly because my father-in-law's picture is on the cover.

Before that I read Max Brooks' "World War Z" an oral history of the great zombie plague. Kind of like George Romero Saves Private Ryan.
The one before that was "River of Doubt" by Candice Millard on Theodore Roosevelt's harrowing exploratory journey to chart a tributary of the Amazon in 1913-14.

Here are a few.
I wish I had the patience to sit down and read. I certainly have the time but I find myself quickly setting books aside and doing something else. Way back when I use to enjoy reading but no more.
