Does your computer run 24/7?
My MAC is normally on all the time. I shut it down for thunder storms and when I go on vacation but if I'm in town the MAC is on 24/7.
I jumped over to distributed.net and saw that my computers have been contributing to the cause for 1000 days as of today. My current standing in the OGR-25 project is 548th which is in the top 99.52 percentile.

I'm participant #423603
Other distributed projects include SETI and one involving protein research.
If you never turn your computer off, think about downloading a client and letting your computer do some research.

I was hooked up to SETI for seven years, but disconnected when they switched to their new software. After seven years, I had no idea what my password was, and the email account linked to it was about five years dead and gone.
There is also www.worldcommunitygrid.org. They are currently computing the interactions between candidate drugs and the HIV virus, and how different human proteins fold.
