Dog Repellent
I personally found that the neighborhood cats disliked cayenne pepper which you can sprinkle liberally around on the horizontal surfaces impacted. You can also look up a recipe for homemade pepper spray which you can then put in a spray bottle (use a utility spray bottle with a large nozzle to avoid clogging) and spray on the vertical surfaces as well. Seemed to work for me.
You will have to reapply occasionally as it loses potency and also gets washed away by rain or heavy moisture. But a word of caution, if this stuff gets in your eyes it can do you some damage. So be careful. You also want to be careful if small children are or may be in the area. Little kids touch *everything* and then rub their faces, mouth, nose, eyes, etc. You don't want kids getting into this.
Just do a search here in Vintage for the thread I had about a year or two ago. People made a lot of good suggestions. I also did find some other good ideas that I would have tried had things not settled down a bit for me when they did.

I had a simular problem. I figured out about when it was happening and set the sprinkler system to come on shortly before that time. It finally came to an end.
When we first moved into our house (1980) we had a neighbor that would let their dog crap in our lawn. I said something about cleaning it up and he ignored me. This continued for about a week until I took a shovel and cleaned up after the dog, followed him to his house and deposited the little gift on their porch. No more dog crap from them after that.
As for the cat problem, a little buckshot works wonder.
I don't let my kids crap and pee in their yard and I don't want your dog or cat doing the same in my yard.
