I saw this on the news. She's in deep you know what with the sister in law she called a "control freak."

You never know who's listening.

Another issue related to the title of this thread came up in a meeting of our Board of Trustees. One of those distinguished folks, who was in on the meeting via phone, forgot about the sensitivity of cell-phone microphones and flushed the toilet.

The assembled crowd (these are public meetings, with reporters present) had a good chuckle while things gurgled. HPH

The sounds coming over the microphone could have been a whole lot more embarassing, though it would have been hilarious to hear and more as the pres (any pres) was speaking.

This reminds me of the old days when I worked for the Chancellor of a college who went absolutely NOWHERE without his cell phone. We worked in an ivory tower and his private little "water closet" was in hearing distance of my appointed mahogany GORGEOUS desk. Anyway, often I'd be sitting at my desk, and he'd come in his private entrance (also behind my desk) and head straight for his "water closet" which he'd occupy sometimes for quite some time. I'd hear the cellphone ring and hear him sitting on his throne (I guess he was sitting) and chatting away. I often mused that it was a good thing the caller could not see what the Chancellor was doing while he was chatting away.

I heard this on the radio in its entirety on my way to work this morning. Although, the wits at the radio station had already added their own strategically placed sound effects to the tape before I heard it.

Didn't this same sort of thing happen to Buffalo Bob of the Howdy Doody Show in the 1950s? Thinking that the microphone was turned off, he referred to the kids in the Peanut Gallery as "little bastards". The whole network heard it and that more or less was the end of his career.

Rob,

That sounds very similar to something we heard on an aquarium tour we all attended recently.

Wasn't it something about dolphins?
