Thanks all

Other way around for us Mocky - she's moving up from the Miata to the AP2 - I'd rather she have the car with VSA, esp when I can upgrade to an AP1 in the bargain.

What are the details of your engine compartment mods. I like the yellow covers. Did you paint them or get them that way?

That is custom work by the original owner. 6 coats of Krylon and 2 clear coats, and the silver striping by hand. Original "H" badge backed with a yellow plastic background, and cemented to the top. S2000 logo done in stenciled letters. And K&N drop-in inside.

The polished pieces are Ricks Valve Cover, Megan Strut bar and American Product Corp. dress-up kit.

I believe our next S2k (yes, we are thinking another one), will be for my wife to sell her '00 Ap1 and get an Ap2 v2 (and not berlina).

I've seen both your cars Two thumbs up - WAY up! GL with a new one; can't wait to see what Cheryl comes up with.

The AP1, so far, is much more "raw"; the AP2 much more "civilized". Both are great cars! For at least another few weeks, my AP1 has fewer miles on it than parkie's Ap2.

Hehehe..oh yeah.. good point ..

I'll be curious to see what Cheryl comes up with as well..I was hoping she'd say that she'd take my car, and I'd take a new CR, but I don't think that's going to happen

I definitely agree with you that the Ap1 has a less refined, more "edgy" drive.. It always felt on rails (I was originally an '01 NFR Ap1 owner)..... the combination of the suspension plus the S02s made for an awesome and very responsive drive...

Like I said, I can't leave you guys alone for 5 hot minutes. Parky, what have you done now? Oh yeah, now I remember someone telling me that you bought Golden Eagle's car. Nice to see the cars we know and love kept in the family. Thanks for the comparison, just in case I ever "act a fool" again.

Raymo Guy, you need to stop.

1- Somehow the car is just more "involving".
2- Definitely time for full synthetic oil. I'm thinking Mobil 1 EP.
3- This AP1 burns about 1/2 qt oil in 1500 miles. My AP2 has never burned a drop. My AP2 has higher mileage, but has been on full synthetic since 10k miles.
4- Brakes are "pulsing". So they are either different than the AP2 or it is time for some work. Gonna have it all checked out at the 45k check next week. I hear pulsing brakes are a sign of potential rotor problems.
5- Yellow turns heads more than blue.
6- I do not care for the black radio door. On my list of things to fix.
7- But the AP1 is clearly more of a presentation of Honda's "Race Car for the Street" theme.
1- Yes indeed!

2- Opinions vary, I ran synthetic for a while and then switched back to regular mineral oil. Many people will tell you, they beleieve the synthetic mellowed out the VTEC transition, and I happen to be one of those people. I track my S a lot, and change my fluids often, and do not believe synthetic is the only answer.

3- That is a specific car to car comparision, it is not a real AP1 Vs. AP2 thing at all. My AP! burns NO OIL during street driving over a 3,000 period, however, it clearly consumes oil at the track, because it was designed to do so when sustaining such constant revs.

4- Again, that is a factor of your new AP1, yes, it needs brake work, AP1's have fine brakes, basically the same as AP2 except for a revised master cylinder and newer front pad compounds.

5- Of course!

6- I just love the black door. The concept was to put you into the cockpit of a race car, an environment that only has what you need to see right in front of your face. The black door helps to hide the radio visually, because it is only a distraction to the driving experience.

7- See number 1.

Enjoy your AP1, they are very special cars!
