Ebola
I'm not closed minded about it. If I were, I wouldn't be researching the topic. I'm just a person who prefers listening to those who are actually doing something about whatever the topic at hand happens to be than those who are just talking about it.
Do whatever you like. You are welcome to worry yourself to death over this. Knock yourself out. It would be a shame, but it's your right to worry yourself to death. That is not my preferred method of living so I'll not be joining you.
At the risk of being repetitious:
In comparison to the amount of people who range from freaking out and screaming "fire" to those who are just complaining, only an extremely small number of people are paying much attention to the fact that Ebola is a huge problem in three countries in West Africa and if we don't help them treat the sick over there, it *will* only become more prevalent here. If one is really seriously concerned about protecting the health and welfare of people in the US (or even just one's self), then one should be actively taking part in helping support the people and organizations who are helping treat the illness in West Africa.
Addendum: I did review the CDC director's comments about "stopping ebola here" and I have to give you credit for being able to pull one sentence out of a paragraph which, taken as a whole doesn't mean what you are presenting, and make it support your argument. And once again, that is significantly different from your previous statement of "They did say that Ebola wouldn't come to the U.S."

Well, you mentioned listening to the "experts" and concluded that the people I spoke of were not, not to mention you do not know what I am or am not doing to help the situation outside of s2ki. After explaining that situation and the qualified people that are directly involved, you switched to me worrying myself to death about it. I was simply giving my advice/input from my conversations with local "experts" directly involved with the situation since I am local and able to do so to try to help inform those who are very very misinformed. Since I am still alive, I will say I am not as worried as you exaggerate me to be. I do think, however, it is a very serious situation that most people are not taking as serious as it should be taken. You also seemed to move on about the "droplet" theory that you did not think was true, perhaps until now! As I stated earlier, it is a small chance, but is being downplayed into "it cannot happen," 2 very big differences! It is also, a "gray" area with much to be seen and determined. Another reason why the Gov would/might lie, simply, because they don't know!
You seem to miss the point I was trying to make that there were lies made about the Ebola situation at one point or another by the government/government agencies as pointed out by some other members. Touche, you did what I did! If you want to believe everything you are told and stick your head in the sand and wait to be rescued when/if need be then by all means, go ahead! I would rather keep an open mind and listen to those around me and make those decisions for myself!
Four reported cases in the US. RUN! THE SKY IS FALLING! IT"S THE END OF THE WORLD! OHMIGAWD! Looks like civilization is going to come to an ignominious end no later than Friday (or was it last Friday?) Must be the Ebola...yeah, that's it.
You know, I'm not in a panic about this whole thing, but I'd be lying if I didn't admit I was glad I was not traveling anywhere by air in the last little while.
The government (state and federal) are not in agreement on the quarantine issue.
I don't see the point of
anyone who has posted of their own concerns about ebola in this thread. It makes Vintage look like an unfriendly place.................just my .02.

The only thing I've moved on from is bothering discussing the situation with people who put more stock in drawing conclusions based on a lot of misinformation and conjecture without considering what the World Health Organization, Doctors Without Borders, and other major medical organizations in the world are saying.
I am more interested with accuracy in the information provided than stray opinions. Concerns are fine. But if your concerns are based on bad information from fear mongering "news" sites, water cooler discussions, and politicians who want to be seen as heroes in an election season, then they carry no weight and only do a disservice to those around you and to those who are doing something about the illness.

Doctors without Borders donation page.
I posted up that link on my FB page (actually, I posted the direct link to the donations page) two days ago and asked friends to donate... even just a measly $10 and to please consider sharing the link. No ice buckets required.
I plan to repost the link on my FB page once every two weeks to remind people that the need still exists and it's important.

Obviously, you didn't bother reading the rest of my post so I will leave it at that. I stand my ground, you should be a little more open minded! Also, I have to give you credit for being able to pull part of one sentence out of a paragraph which, taken as a whole doesn't mean what you are presenting, and make it support your argument."
