Default Electrical problem

First noticed that we had an electrical problem with the "S" at Spring Fling. While running with the low beams on the high beam indicator kept flashing on and I could see that the high beams were actually doing this. There were several suggestions as to what was wrong. The first thing that we did, (Hardtopguy) & I, was change the on & off switch and a couple of relay's. That did not correct the problem, so I put off doing anything else at that time. I felt that if I wasn't driving the car with the lights on that it would be ok till it could be looked at again by Jeff.
Since we run with the lights on at the meets and this was the first time I had the car out at night the problem caught up to me. Saturday night after the Ghost Walk we were driving back to the Hilton and my dash started to go crazy, lost the driver side headlight, turn signal, wipers and other things. Sunday morning we looked under the hood and found that the wiring harness on the driver's side (going around the strut tower) had completely melted in half. With the help of Paul (S-cargo) I was able to drive the car home.
It's in Cleveland at Hardtopguy's getting fixed. The preliminary report is that the harness rubbed against the strut tower enough through the years to cause it to short out and melted.
Check your cars in this area to see if this problem is developing.
I'll update if any other problems are found.

Thanks for the heads up. I just checked mine and there is a section along the strut tower where the wires aren't covered by the black wire cover. I think I'll tape that up later today or tomorrow just to be on the safe side.

Ditto- thanks for the advice- and possibly saving many of us un-needed headaches.

I went down to peek and my '02 has a little plastic box mounted to the strut tower that the cables run through.

I'm feeling "challenged" today ... so can someone post a picture of what there are talking about here?

Thanks ...

Got my car back from Jeff (Hardtopguy), everything is fixed. The cause is exactly what the preliminary idea was, the left (driver side) harness rubbed against the strut tower. Among other parts that had to be replaced were an ABS sensor, ABS module, Cruise Module & air pump and the left harness. Just about everything connected to that harness got fried. Oh almost forgot, the windshield as it needed replaced too
