Nice find of the"Green Monster". The narrowness of the track with it's severe elevation changes and high speeds. Great vintage footage.

Great vid, thanks for posting

So Dave, I was at The Glen on Mon & Tues for a driving school, I was chatting with this nice guy and the subject of vintage racing came up, and I made a comment about how much a visionary Cameron Argetsinger must have been. There was a bit of a pregnant pause, and the guy replied with "thanks, that was my Dad".

Great video, Dave! A time when race cars were PURE race cars, and drivers were real drivers.

I'm sure everyone noticed how little driver protection there was..... and no harnesses!

Sure am glad that I got to see some of it "up close and personal". For those of us who did, I think we all knew how special it was.... even at the time.

I agree. I, too, got to see some of these guys run at Watkins Glen in the 60s including wins by Jimmy Clark.

That was a great period of racing.
It was all about mechanical grip and aero hadn't taken over yet.

when was the last time you saw an F1 car go light on the crest of a hill.
for that matter when was the last time you saw an F1 car on the crest of a hill.
Now that Spa in no longer on the calender everything is pretty flat.

Like a drive on a country road -- no Armco, no catch fences, and now five-point harnesses. Amazing.

I saw Graham Hill crash at the Glen in the late 60's, get thrown from the car, and only suffered a broken leg (IIRC, that is).

Cool story.

I recall meeting Briggs Cunningham's son and sharing with him that I saw his dad drive at LeMans.

I had the thrill to be invited to share lemonade with Graham and his wife Betty at the house/garage the team had rented in days leading up to the '62 LeMans.
