Facebook Refugee
I've decided to put FB in quarantine -- too much negativity, too much political ugliness (both Repub and Dem) . Decided this morning to check on you guys and I'm happy to see familiar folks who are in good spirits and good health. Think you guys can put up with me a little bit? Hello and godspeed to you all. We're self-isolating, ordering grocery items through instacart and keeping Amazon in business. Things have become a bit of a pain in the neck since I'm wiping down or spraying disinfectant on everything before it crosses my threshold. I kind of figure the only way the bug will get in my house is if I let it in. Exploring telehealth, etc. in an attempt to keep Mr B out of harm's way. The way I see it and from accounts of those in my community who've survived the virus, it would be a death sentence for him and probably for me should we acquire the disease since we both have underlying conditions that could worsen things. Anyway, taking this thing seriously and taking a wait/see attitude about the reopening of my state. The tourists will be coming soon so only time will tell. Oh, my son ended up here in late February and hasn't been able to head back home. He was a preemie with slightly underdeveloped lungs so he's high risk too and has had more than his share of bouts with pneumonia. I'm beyond grateful for his help since my daughter who had been my helper is an essential worker and is out there working with the public. She's leery of bringing it to us, so having my son here is fabulous. He's a huge help and I'll suffer when/if he leaves. Hope you guys will provide a shelter from the current FB climate -- hugs to you all from afar.

Welcome back, Val. It's good to see you. I know what you mean about FB. I have changed the status of a few friends to "snooze" or "unfollow" so I don't see their posts. It sounds like you are fighting the fight and you will find several threads here so you can see how we are all handling it. Please join in. We also started Zoom conferencing and you would be more than welcome to participate. I hope Jim is doing well and I'm glad to ear you have some back-up.
Welcome back, Kiddo. I was thinking about you guys just yesterday, wondering how you were getting along. Glad to hear you are taking all precautions and that you have your son there to help out.
Again, great hearing from you, Val.

Don't know yet how much time I can spend here or on any social media at present, but we'll see. Jim's the same so far. Still completely wheelchair bound but has a good attitude. We get him out in his power chair when weather permits and I've had to get a new ramp for the back patio since even though our neighborhood is private and only owners permitted, we're getting loads of bike riders, joggers, etc. who completely ignore the postings. He and I got a little worried about his being able to cruise up/down the streets since the covidiots were passing within only a tiny distance of him in his chair. Now he can spend more time out back without that concern. I've been spending a lot of time (and money) getting the lawn and flower gardens done -- re-sodded the entire back lawn, put in beautiful snapdragons and sunpatiens bordering the existing hollies and azaleas, etc. It has attracted more wildlife and he's really enjoying spending time there. I've put a lot into the front as well, but sadly with the foregoing, he can't enjoy that as much. I've really learned through this crisis how little some people think of the effect their actions have on others. It saddens me to think that as humans so many are so inconsiderate -- I guess those who are elderly or infirm are of no importance.
