I might be interesting to know, which Charities do Vintagers support at this time of year. Or which charity events do you sponsor or participate in?

Can't say that we are giving a lot of money away lately, but, I can't walk pass a Salvation Army bell ringer without dropping in a contribution.

I'll also support American Heart, March of Dimes, American Cancer, and Alzheimer's Association. A recent check written was to support the Teen Center of a Boys' and Girls' club in honor of The Toon.

Also, it's cold outside. I should write a check to the local shelter that feeds and houses folks at this time of year.

Thanks for the reminder.

Disclaimer: I never EVER contribute to any charity because of a telephone call.

I support American Cancer and Deborah Heart and Lung Center financially for personal links. Since I don't have other specific links, I'll also support those charities that my friends and families find worthy due to direct links for them, provided I don't have a direct issue with the charity in question.

I volunteer at a food bank through a program we have at work. It's distribution from the warehouse to the shelters and kitchens, usually twice a year.

I also run an event for Make-A-Wish Foundation of NJ each year.

I have my favorites that I've contributed to the past few years. They include The Wheelchair Foundation (really love that one), ASPCA, and Doctors Without Borders. I also contribute quite a bit of clothing and household goods to our local hospice thrift store.

The local homeless shelter is one. I delivered five large trays of leftover catered food Sat night. They had my truck emptied in five seconds. Red Cross is another at this time.

Donations for shelters and soup kitchens are down this year, and demand is up. I guess everyone is feeling the pinch in our bad economy.

I donate to no organized charities. They are too top heavy with costs plus I can't choose where my money goes. I do have a couple of local charities that I know the people who run them and I approve of who gets the money.

I donate blood to the local blood bank.

We occasionally donate food to the local food bank. Aside from that we donate clothes to the Salvation Army all throughout the year.

Rarely do I make ca$h donations.

I give regularly to The Salvation Army, The American Red Cross, and The Second Harvest Food Bank. I donate usable clothing/blankets/shoes and small appliances to Goodwill.

I give to The Mercy Corp. or International Red Cross when there is an international disaster.

Other charities I give to regularly are our local universities that me and my children attended. (I know some people think universities are just non-profit organizations, but if you know California's financial situation, you'll understand why they are charities. )
