The weather has warmed up (13º) and all of the critters are out...

This is pic of a rare half-male half-female cardinal. Did not know there was such a thing.

Our feeders have had hardly an birds the last two days but the hawk is beautiful. We have yet to see him for long enough to decide which type of hawk he/she is. The squirrels don't seem to care about him.

Squirrels don't worry about hawks, I watched them run up to within 3' of them if the hawks in their feeding area. BTW, I counted 10 deer in the neighbor's yard behind our house yesterday. I'll bet they can't wair for spring so Donna can start planting flowers for their salard bar.

I'm still very disappointed in the lack of activity at my feeders. I did see a goldfinch that is starting to get a bit more yellow. A couple of juncos and the blue jays, that's about it. So I went duck hunting with my camera again. Braved the "feels like" temps of 26 and managed to walk just over 2 miles too. My reward. An American Wigeon. Spends some time here in the winter, returns to Idaho, Montana and North Dakota to breed. Pretty cool to be finding and photographing these birds. Hope I'm not oversharing, but will put this in Odds and Ends as well.

Have hardly seen squirrels lately...You got a cute one there, Dave.

This is the first time in two winters that they got to any of the feeders. May have to do something to keep him away.
