A tree

More trees and a river

Nice place. You can't shop here so it's never really crowded.

I grew up in the Borough of Queens in New York City. I have long held the belief that the rest of New York State gets a bum rap based on the perception of NYC.

Bear Mountain is about an hour drive north of Manhatten. The river that you see is the Hudson River.

I think that if you ask some people that attended the SF06 at Watkins Glen that had never been to the Finger Lakes Region of New York State before, they will attest to the fact that the rest of New York state has a lot to offer.

That is just my .02

There is something to be said for the tourist slogan " I NY"

Nice pics Frank.

The views from Bear Mnt on a clear day are great. If you get to the right observation area you can see the NYC skyline.

FC 2002 was held in Fishkill and included a stop at Bear Mtn. It also took us down to West Point (we didn't stop).

Frank, if you are interested, I may have the route we took that day. PM me if you want it.

Nice pics.

We recently stopped at the Vanderbilt Estate in Hyde Park, NY. I snapped a pic of the Hudson River. Were we close to the area in your pics?

Lainey,

Bear Mountain is south of where you were by about 30 - 45 minutes. It is one of the areas you should go to see if you do come back to the area.

Jim.

Thanks! It will be on our "to do" list at some point along the way.
