It took a bit of force to get the batteries out and the wire. As I recall they all sorta came out together.

It seems impossible to disassemble it without damage. I can't budge anything with a dental tool. The ridge down the inside center doesn't appear to be a wire as was suggested but there does appear to be a tiny blob of solder on top of the box with the two entry holes where the ridge leads. My guess is that is where it was solder since the wire is too short to go into either of the entry holes.

I guess all those years of building model cars pays off. I was able to pry it apart. But it's still not clear where the wire was attached or soldered. I guess the next step is to remove the LED bracket.

Let me slip into my Debbie Downer attire here....

OK like I said before, what we have here is an OTA, that's a one time assembly.
serviceability was never a priority, make it cheap and reliable.
The assembly process builds up the black electronics subassembly then GLUES in the other needed parts.

If it can be put together once, it can be put together twice. Heck, I have Glues All.

Lainey, you are going to miss some sleep. One thing I know I am not good at is very fine soldering but my neighbor is. So I need put the project on hold till I see him.

If you look really close you can see the wire end which went to the switch; its the size of a human hair. It broke off as I was about to put the long return wire in place. A little soldering at both ends of the LED bracket hopefully will repair everything.

I hope it's a brief intermission. I'm running out of sleep aids, but I do have gummies.
