The flu is still going around!
Lots of worries about coronavirus but the usual flu is still going around. Anyone sick in your house?
My son had some issues yesterday, was tested for the flu, that was negative, but any respiratory issues go straight to his chest and flare up asthma. He's home sick. Meanwhile, the grandson started running a temp, has a cough, etc. This morning he had 102, so my son called the doc and they wanted to see him. Daughter in law worked overnight, wasn't home yet, so he asked if I'd take Ryan to the doc. He was diagnosed with the flu, though he did have the flu shot. The doc told me the flu shot wasn't very effective this year (it's always a crap shoot) and he's seen more kids who had the shot still come down with the flu vs adults. I feel bad for kids who get sick (especially my grandson), but glad to hear my chances of having the flu are slimmer than some.
They didn't ask about overseas travel, but there was a sign. They did ask if he was coughing and I grabbed a mask for him. Thankfully, I wasn't in the germy environment too long.
No Tamiflu prescription as he's already gone past the first 24 hours with symptoms, and the doc said, of late, the Tamiflu is causing side effects in kids. Since the grandson has no underlying health conditions, no prescription. He's got a note to keep him out of school until Friday if necessary.

Crazy that our country is going bonkers over the corona virus....
16-20k people in the US have died since Oct 2019 in the US.... from the "normal" flu....

Kinda related. Patty posted about getting nauseous from the new flu shot, so just wondering if everyone is/has gotten the latest?
I visited the VA this afternoon and got the high dosage one (recommended for us ole farts) and was impressed with the fact they had everything organized and I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. So far, my arm is just a bit sore at the injection point.
