Some creative chef needs to rename this species from Asian Carp (which people equate to Gold Fish) and make it into a hot new trendy dish. This would give Chilean Sea Bass a much needed break as they are being over fished in the last few years.

Lets think up some creative new names that might make this fish the hot ticket in trendy restaurants in NYC and LA. Perhaps you folks that speak French or another language could come up with something along the line of calling snails Escargot.

"Airborne trout"
"Aerial Gold"

What name can you come up with? Let's get creative.

Before we name this fish that will catch on with everybody, we need to have some folks who have eaten this fish do a write up about how this fish taste like and ways to prepare it. If the fish is tasty, it will be in demand but if it tastes like carp, there won't be too much demand.

I beg to differ to a "small" extent. that many people do not like "heavy" tasting fish like Blue or Barracuda hence the popularity of Talapia, Catfish and Chilean Sea Bass. On the other hand, the population by and large would not be eating snails if someone had not come up with a receipe to cook them up in garlic butter and make them taste good to a fair portion of the population and pass them off as a delicacy.

There has to be someone that can figure out how to marinade, fried them, blacken them etc to make them the next big fish dish.

Think in terms of Beany Babies and Tickle me Elmo's. If people are told by the media that something is delicious and the latest hot trendy meal they will follow the sheep or lemmings model. How many Yuppies drink Martinis or smoke cigars that they don't really like or put lime in their beer because it is perceived to be

Who knows: This could be the opportunity to get in on the next Bubba Gump Flying Carp Company?

^True enough. If Scandinavians can eat lutefisk, why not the flying carps. The only issue is that a "delicacy" like lutefisk came about as a result of dire need not in our days of plentifulness. Lutefisk is a tradition that is rooted in history but I don't really believe that people will be busting through doors to get at carps. Carps no matter how you slice it is a very bad tasting fish. But if you can market it, you may have something there but I'll stay with salmon and trout.

with you about staying away from the Carp.

However, my previous thought about "Lemmings masquerading as people" was lent a helping hand today when I learned over lunch from a co-worker that Paris Hilton gets a $100K appearance fee for showing up at "trendy" clubs in NY, LA, Miami, etc. to put them "on the map" as night spots. Now if only we can get her eating the Asian Carp we could be on the brink of the next big trend and cash in with the "Bubba Gump Flying Carp Company!

How does one go about overfishing a species that doesn't exist?
