I just attended a memorial service for my friend of 42 years who had a degree in chemistry and completed work at numerous Michigan colleges. He began his career in a hospital, then taught chemistry at two high schools, and worked as a chemist at a well known business; then as a lab manager at two hospitals. He ended his career teaching laboratory skills to students entering the medical field. His accomplishments included many publications in national and international journals. His biggest accomplishment came in 1970 when he was part of the Sickle Cell Anemia Research Group that not only discovered the treatment for the disease but a screening method to prevent the crises and the progress of the disease.

You only meet a few people in your life that really, really mean something and Bruce was one of mine. God I loved him......

Yeah, he was the founder of the MGA club in Michigan but more importantly a friend of 42 years.

Anyone with a degree in a "hard" science has got to be a cool dude.

Sad time, Dave. I understand your loss and know that life well lived is also subject to our common human plight! It is difficult to understand death, and it is always a sad part of living. Sincere condolences! RIP to your friend!
