I checked the box that says, My state requires them and I strictly abide by the law, but that isn't really true.

I have the front plate on my S2000 and my Crosstour. They came with the front plate mounts. My NSX didn't come with the mount so I don't have a front plate on it. I did buy the kit from Science of Speed, to put my front plate on, but it's still sealed in the UPS box, 4 years later.

You can vote for more than one answer, Patty, so you can check the "&%$# you" box as well.

I’ve displayed my front plate ever since a warning from my local PD. When I stand back and observe I don’t think it looks unsightly, plus it eliminates the frustration of tickets and the expenses.

I'm pretty sure this is the first poll in which I have ever participated on s2ki. I normally avoid polls like the plague. Hmmm, well, I have to admit I've never seen the plague so it's hard to say how well I would avoid it... but I digress.

Anyway, yeah CA requires them. I didn't used to care and I didn't bother running it. But then I started leading monthly drives and I decided that I didn't want to be the reason the entire group of cars I was leading would have to wait (yes, they get route sheets, but we have guidelines on what to do in case of tickets and it means the rest of the group ends up waiting somewhere along the way) while I get handed my fix-it ticket by an LEO needing to meet a quota. Just sort of seemed rude of me seeing as it's simple enough to avoid.

But if I had no one else relying on me, I would probably forgo the plate.

Wow! I feel honored, Murph!

Since I have always lived in a state where front plates (tags, as we call them here in Delaware) were not required, I still don't understand the need for them. I really think they, especially on sports and exotic cars, make the cars look like crap. Like someone else posted, the enforcement of the front plate (tag) laws, like city/municipality speed limit laws, are just another source of revenue enhancement.

MA went to two plates somewhere around 1997, I'm not sure when, BUT they didn't require them even when renewing a registration, only on new registrations. So, the plate on my Jeep is the same ONE I've had since somewhere around 1992 or 1997. The WRX has the required two plates. The S is supposed to have two. One is in the trunk. Rick has been stopped in the S a total of three times, the absence of a front plate has never been mentioned.

I keep one on my truck but on my "good" car I have not had one mounted since '93.

Knock on wood I have never been stopped for it.
