Back on topic. I have oredred from a couple of the off-shore suppliers and though they gring a lens well, I have been less impressed with the frames, I did not use Zenni.

As for the big chains, I try to always use a local optician. Luxotica is the owner of must of the big chains and they have a near monopoly on frames, and I do try to avoid them at almost any cost. It does cost a bit more to have the lenses done in the US, but that's just me.

Can't help with an American made TV but if you want an American made appliance, we can buy a Samsung or Electro-Lux, or Bosch. Hmm, where is GE and the rest of the US manufacturers.

Although I could, I have never found the need to send a single text message. One day......

I did look at the site; clicked through some options; but it appeared my choice would cost less than 50 bucks for progressive bifocals. IINBTN, what did you pay?

You can also receive calls through the number. AND for the world travelers, it works great if you travel out of the country as well. You launch the app and dial from the keyboard that shows up, works fine as as long as you have an internet connection. You won't be giving the cell phone company $$$$$$$$$$$$ for the call.
Interesting....will have to check this out when I get smart enough to get a smart phone.

Still doing well enough with my old flip phone and my Netbook for travelling. Guess the upgrade will eventually win out...

Don't know what IINBTN means, but my progressive pair, with scratch resistant lenses cost about $100. A similar pair at LensCrafters would have cost between 3 & 4 bills.Oh, the site I was referring to was the Clark Howard site, not the glasses site.

Our glasses usually run $600. They don't offer a key item for us - the ones that turned to sunglasses in the sun.

Dave, they do indeed offer those types of lenses. You just have to proceed through the ordering process. In the case of my glasses, the Transitions lenses would add about $150 to the cost of the order, bringing the total to around $250, still a substantial savings vs. the local option.
