The Gearshift Knob
The circle is complete. The spirit of my MGB now runs through my S2000. There is harmony. This morning I bought a 10 x 1.5 mm tap at Sears and rethreaded the wooden MG shift knob that I bought at the Northern New Jersey British Car Show. It fits perfectly, in spirit and in character, even if not in style. I will post pictures later if the gallery is repaired. Right now its "borked".
Nice piece, but why not let the S2000 be what it is and get it a garage pal for those slower memory laden weekend cruises ? MGB is cheap. My memories are with a TR4 and and Lotus Europa.

I thought long and hard before I put the MG shift knob into the S. You're not wrong, each car should stand on it's own. Still, my affection for my MGs (1972 MGB & 1952 MG-TD) runs deep. To me my S2000 is the logical extension of the sportscar passion I developed in April 1972 when I bought my MGB. The gearshift knob is the link uniting the past with the present.
As I said, my MGB and my S2000 are different, but only by 30 years. Otherwise they are the same.
I would buy another TD if I had the time and the space. Right now there are other more important things to think about. Someday.
Gear shift knobs can really recall memories that's for sure. For me I guess I have always gone to and been attracted to the metal versions not the wooden ones.
My '73 Gremlin X with the three on the floor had a big ole Hurst T-handle made form aluminum.

My S has a Voodoo Magnum in polished aluminum, because ever since I was a kid I have always thought the best shifter knobs in the world are the big round chrome ones found in Ferraris.

HHH, How did you post that picture? You must have pull. My pictures don't work and I was told it was a site issue.
I believe that you can post pictures if they are hosted elsewhere. If they are from the S2KI gallery they are not working.
I will post a photo of my MG shift knob mounted in my S as soon as the gallery is fixed.

It's all about the pull...Actually Bob was right, it is not hosted by s2ki so it posts...
The gearshift knob. I know its not walnut, but it is wood, and old MG gearshift knobs are hard to find. I'm still looking, and if I find a walnut MG knob, I will replace this one. For now the circle is complete and the spirit of my old MGs runs through my S2000.
