Default Gettysburg Friday Dinner chat

Some of you may have seen that the Friday dinner thread is now closed. All the info about the dinner is in the Friday Dinner thread which is pinned at the top of our forum. I was able to get everyone on the waiting list "in." I closed the thread so that the "chatter" would not create any confusion about the status of the dinner. In other words, we are full up and I've stretched our host's capacity to the limits, and I can't add more folks.

But since I know we like to chat, I thought I'd start this thread so as not to end the discussion of things like will there be assigned seating? what should I wear? what wine goes with butter? how do I get to the highway from my house? will there be a group drive to the dinner? is there parking at the restaurant? will other cars park close to our cars? can we have the lot roped off so just our cars are parked there?can I wash my car in the parking lot? will there be a group drive back from the dinner? Does the bread pudding have bread? and all the other things I don't know the answer to. So fire away friends!

Okay, I've decided to start the chat. I'll be wearing clothing and would appreciate it if you all would do the same. I am truly looking forward to seeing each and every one of you along with your +1s. This will be a celebratory dinner since it may be a while before we get to dine together again. We will all be smiling and I am quite thankful that I will get to meet some of you for the first time, see old and wonderful friends again and just plain laugh and be grateful for this incredibly grand opportunity to be in a group of highly intelligent individuals who love to drive the most excellent hand built race car for the streets that has ever been designed.

At the risk of being accused of favoritism, I must say I agree with Val's request for mandatory clothing.

Let's face it, at our age, we look better with clothing.

Let me see.....We appreciate Bill planning dinner for us. We will gladly attend, we will even shower prior to attending, and hope others will as well. We will wash all the bugs off our teeth from the top down driving to PA.

The fact that dinners are planned saves many of us a conversation like this.

"Honey, where do you want to go for dinner?

"I don't care wherever you want." "What would you like for dinner?"

"I don't know, you pick.

"No I picked last time and it was lousy."

" I know, we'll just head out and when you see something you want, let me know and I'll stop."

Of course it never quite works out like that, so we thank Legal Bill for his efforts.

Bill, I think it's inconsiderate that you already asked ALL of the questions that Rob was thinking about

OTOH, there maybe he'll ask about the facilities for checking/changing oil in the parking lot. When I get my photos downloaded and posted to this thread, maybe this question will become obvious....

Barbara and I will go through this while we are on the road. Invariably, we drive by exits just in time to see that if we got off, we would have our choice of three or four nice reataurants. Then we get off at the next exit and all they have is a convenient store next to a gas station. So we buy some chips and a baloney sandwich and then at the next exit we see three more nice restaurants.

Speak for yourselves on the clothing thing...What's the temp in Gettysburg that time of year? I need to know so I can decide what not to wear. Where's Grant when I need him...

Unlike you obsessive planners my wife and I actually like to cruise or walk the new area, get the lay of the land, and pick a place out of the blue. If we don
