You've all met my son Adam, either in person or online. As you know he's a mechanical engineer working for American Honda R & D in Ohio. Recently he and two friends rented a house in Powell, Ohio. Along with the house came a 12 car garage. Adam has recently taken to rebuilding cars in his spare time. A few months ago I asked him if he'd like to get my MG-TD running and fix the brakes. He said he'd love to.
Two weeks ago he came home with his car trailer and one of Honda's Ridgelines to take the TD to Ohio.
We loaded the TD onto the trailer
Adam has started working on it. He's doing a body off restoration. He's going to work the mechanicals and he is very friendly with the owner of a body shop whose going to do the bodywork. I expect to get the TD back in about a year in great shape.
#1. the trailer has an almost flat tire
#2 how the hell do you get a house with a 12 car garage? Wow.
1. The trailer has a spare tire. We changed it the next morning before Adam left for Ohio.
2. The owners of the house had a service station on the lot next to the house. The service station has been out of business for years. The owners rented Adam and his friends the garage (the old service station) for about $250 a month. They have rented out a couple of spots in it which brings in enough to pay the rent. They use the rest of the space to work on their own cars. The house that they rent has a built-in 2 car garage where Adam keeps his M2. He keeps his 4Runner in the bigger garage with my TD.
About a year ago Adam bought a 1999 4Runner because he does some off-roading. He wasn't content with the engine in it so he swapped out the engine for an 8 cylinder Lexus engine. He's rebuilt the transmission, the transfer case, replaced the suspension and has repaired the onboard computer. He is unbelievable with cars. My TD is in good hands.
