Which GPS unit to buy?
Got a TomTom Go730 currently, and would like to find a GPS that works easier.
Here is what I do not like about it:
1. When you try and find an address or cross streets, you have to put in a city first. If you are out in the middle of nowhere, how do you find a city name? Got to be an easier way of doing this.
2. No easy way to do a route covering multiple waypoints, unless TomTom figures the route. When we do drives out in the middle of nowhere, we have a route planned, but I can't load that into my TomTom.
Recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

For what it is worth. Years ago when I bought our Garmin and showed it to a coworker he had to have a GPS. He spent quite a bit of time on the Internet researching various makes and when he call Magellan for tech support questions he got their E-mail that stated: Leave a message and someone will get back to you with in 48 hours. When he called Garmin he got a human that answered his question.
Additionally, Garmin's web site has a up date utility that could not be easier to use. One down loads the utility, then hook your unit up via the USP port and it will search for up grades automatically. It could not be any easier than that.

Looter had given me a link to a GPS review site...

And the top rated Garmin 755T on it has been discontinued!
Looks like Garmin has changed the model numbers on all of them...

Our Garmin (a gift) is about 6 years old. I'd buy a Garmin if we needed a new GPS. We can only set one "via point" but it works for us. We generally review the route the Garmin is taking us on, and if we prefer another highway/interstate we set a via point. It does require a bit of "fiddling" with the GPS, and if traveling alone, it could be a PIA. The "fiddling" can help keep the co-pilot occupied.
However, the Garmin works great. I spent the $100.00 for lifetime map updates.
I'm sure the newer Garmins have many more "bells and whistles" than the one we have.

BTW, be sure to purchase a unit with lifetime map updates. It is the cheaper way to go.

Really nice feature of the TomTom.....
