Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian friends. I'm at work today. Not one of the holidays we get, but we do get the four day weekend at Thanksgiving. That's much more enjoyable.

Matt gets that 4-day weekend too but he uses it to visit his Mom in LI. I don't think we have ever spent a Thanksgiving together. I usually buy a turkey breast and cook for myself. The cats love it since I can feed them nibbles of turkey! I might see if my cat sitter can cover that weekend so I can go with him.

We prefer to get a kitty sitter (one cat) to come to our home when we go away but that does not always happen. Our kitty has to go to "kitty jail" while we attend FC. BUT, I found a new place that has little screened in areas, so she can be outside, and not stuck in a cage.

I'd rather have a kitty sitter, but this will be OK....

I'm not sure, but the Canadian Thanksgiving occurs at about the same time (first part of October) as the German festival of Erntedankfest . But like the Americans, the Canadians find historical events to tie their national festivities to; like a 1576 Thanksgiving celebration by the British on Baffin Island. This claim gives Canada the first observance of Thanksgiving in North American, preceding the Pilgrims' Thanksgiving by almost half a century.

Anyway, have a Happy Thanksgiving, eh?
