Nice story but there is no way I would rescue a Doberman or Pit Bull especially if I had a toddler. This one was an exception but there have been so many stories about these breeds attacking and sometimes killing children, family members, strangers and other dogs. And some were very tame until something triggered their aggressive nature. My daughter has 2 rescue Labs and they were around children and others all of their life. Never a problem

I have read recommendations not to get a mastiff around young kids as well "because they are too big."
yet you see the videos of little kids climbing the dogs to get to something like they are a step stool.
but there is nothing more dangerous than a happy mastiff's tail.
