Hey Dean!
If I weighed 5 tons, had 40-50 three inch long teeth, and knew I'd be spending the next 40 years doing the same stipid tricks while trapped in a teensy tiny space getting fed minnows, I'd surely bite somebody just to see what would happen. Or because I was bored out of my skull.
This incident was really more of a nibble. A wild animal whose common name starts with 'killer', and which preys on seals, sea lions, and even whales in the wild could certainly kill a human instantly if it so desired. What really amazes me is that more trainers aren't injured or killed. They certainly have a better temperment than I do.
(the orcas, not the trainers
)

Dean is one of our COs here and a marine biologist.
Every now and again we like to ask him questions to see if we can "stump the professor." We like his insight into stories such as these.

Knowing his feelings about animals kept in captivity for the enjoyment of humans, I'm anxiously awaiting his response myself! And considering many of his students in the intro marine bio classes aspire to be trainers at theme parks, he does enjoy bursting their bubbles.

About time to post a photo of that swanky office of yours again g-rod.
Hey, She, it got even swankier, they put some real expensive Japanese pictures of flying geese in here. At least they're free. sigh I think the Perkster has all the pictures and she didn't take any new ones the last time she was here.
Yo Perk, you've got to come back to see our swanky pictures!
Free Willy!

I've always felt sorry for trapped animals, that's why I rarely visits zoos.

Now Lainey, are you sure what you really like isn't when his "insights" get him into trouble like in Mystic voicing his feelings about porpoises?

No one here will reprimand him as they did at the Aquarium.
