Hey Patty!
The really bad stuff arrives tomorrow into Sat. It's amazing all the barriers/sandbags going up in the streets to channel the water/mud. I've never seen that before. Good luck everyone out in CA! As for the Midwest/East Coast, another really nasty storm and bitter temps this weekend/Mon. The winter that just won't end...
Since Patty is out swimming in her back yard, I'll answer for her. My guess is that she is fine. The runoff area is behind her house and is quite a bit lower elevation. If she was in trouble, we should all be marching to an ark.
Patty, when you show up, you can correct me if I'm wrong. The people having worries are those below hillsides that had fires.

Morris/Dean, you are correct. I'm sure you will see at least double the rain I get. Do you know how much you've had so far?
I got a piddly amount last night, while I slept. It's supposed to start around 3am again. It's incredibly dry here. I have nothing to worry about. It's the people who live downstream of the burn areas who are on edge. BTW, it's nice you thought of me, Bill.

when we left Scottsdale on Tuesday, they were hoping to get some rain.....not sure if they did or not. their last rain was in NOV 2013!
learned that AZ has floods because their "soil" is like concrete= no absorption. maybe SoCal is the same?

Rain report for February. Last storm brought 3.5 inches to total just shy of a foot for the month. (in the hills- valley had less)
SoCal has mudslides because of fires taking out all vegetation that holds the water back. After soil gets saturated, the rain runs off taking soil/mud with it. If rain was light and steady, the area would not have problems but when it comes down too fast to be absorbed, then runoff and flooding becomes a problem. Soil types are all over the map.

Yesterday was wild, weather wise. Today, I've been getting some rain, then clear, then rain. Much better. Yesterday the wind was the strongest I've ever had here in 6 years (today). The roof leaking in my entry. Had a roofer out today and will be getting a couple more bids before I decide to reroof with my concrete tiles or just go for a fix.
