This morning we (Adam and I) are going to the Northern New Jersey British Car show in my neighboring town of Succasunna. If I see a TD, an A, or a B or a Morgan that I want I might just bid on it. We'll see.
Luckily, I don't have any more available garage bays and that is a limiting factor.
I am going to look for a walnut MG gearshift knob (like the one that I used to have but can't find) for my S.
By the way, did you notice the leather gearshift knob on the Sprite. Its leather with the AH emblem. It looks much newer than the rest of the interior. As I recall, the leather knobs in the British cars didn't age well, walnut did much better. I bet this knob was replaced recently.
The knobs all came aftermarket from Ammco. They were of good quality and lasted well. I did have a run of them that seperated from the threaded metal insert that screwed onto the shift lever, but they were not Ammco.
How much you willing to go for a TD Rob? One of the New England guys is selling one right now.

I remember Aamco!! Jeez, I thought I killed that brain cell years ago.
Was it spelled with two As? I couldn't remember. I used to work for a company that was the local distributor. Then I worked for a couple other companies that sold them. They also carried convertible tops, aluminum rocker covers, and very nice quality chrome luggage racks, just to mention a few things. Kids today think they started mods.
Actually the proper spelling is amco. Here is a photo of a box
and the knob that I bought today at the Northern New Jersey British Car show. As soon as I bore it out and thread it I'm going to put it into my S. (See my thread titled "The Gearshift Knob")
Bill,
What year and condition is the TD. I'm not looking for a car that I have to restore, but I'm not looking to spend a lot of money either. I'm going to post some pictures of the Northern New Jersey British Car show in a new thread soon
