Default Hit a duck :/

Today around 9:30 I was cruising down the PA turnpike, and if anyone has rode on it before the have barriers on each side of the road. As I am driving down my lane i look ahead and see a some type of big bird ether a duck or a turkey walking in my lane.....I have no idea how it got there cause there was pretty steady traffic and it was just walking in the road which is blocked off. But as soon as i saw it I broke as much as i could and honked real quick, the bird didn't move at all and i smacked into going a good 60 mph. I heard a quick QUACK and feathers flew everywhere. I figure the bird is gone for good as I looked into my rear view mirror and it flew under my car and bounced behind my car.

Pic to show you when i first pulled off to look

now lucky i haven't noticed any damage just a lot of feathers in the engine bay and radiator, with some guts on my front fender and hood....but i washed it right when i got home and i think its all good.

Too bad for the duck but I'm glad your car wasn't damaged.

There was an area on I-70 yesterday where I saw four or five dead deer on the roadside in a two mile stretch. I don't imagine anyone can hit a deer and not get some damage.

Don't feel too bad. In our area, there are many Canada geese. They have a lot of median to land in with out harm. But, every now and then, they land in the road and get killed. I only feel bad because they mate for life and some goose is out there feeling lonely.

Be sure to clean all remains. one NE guy hit a bird and didn't realize it. A week later a real stinky mess developed.
