The Hobby thread
I wanted to learn to play the guitar so after I'd been retired 12 months I bought I Takamine EAN10C and have been taking lessons once a week since February this year. It is very different than playing my trumpet (45 +years) as my left hand only has to hold the trumpet up - now I have to teach it to make cords and shapes - good for battling half timers.

Nice vintage Maggies you have there. I think you and I are the only Maggie fans on the Vintage forum.
fiscal priorities have just been elsewhere.
some trivial details such as kid's tuition etc.
dean & boltonblue,
Well I'm happy to read that there are others who appreciate the non-boxy sound the Maggies provide.
I've modified mine some with better crossover components (they're circa 1986 MGIIIa's) and they're on their second set of ribbon tweeters. Over the years I've been amazed at the uniformly positive reactions folks have had to hearing them. The younger set, friends of my kids before they were emancipated, were almost always saying "Those are speakers? WOW they sound great!" That and being astounded to hear just how good clean vinyl could sound. They expected to hear rice crispies. LOL

I have a surround system set up using Maggies - 3.6Rs for fronts, 1.6QRs for surrounds, and a CC3 center. They're supplemented with an infinite baffle subwoofer with four - eighteen inch drivers.
That set up ought to sound great! Not too many folks are able to do their home theater surround systems with Magneplanars simply because of the room needed.
Mine is much more pedestrian based around a Mitsubishi 65" WS65315 HDTV and Onkyo TX-SR705S AVR. Outlaw (Hsu sub), Cerwin-Vega, Wharfedale, and Minimus speakers in a 7+1 configuration. Here's an older, somewhat outdated, picture:

I also enjoy handloading and target shooting with centerfire and rimfire rifles and pistols.

What caliber do you load and shot? I no longer load, but do shot long guns and pistols, targets mostly.
Running a ranch full time doesn't afford a whole lot of time for hobbies, but I love working on old cars (older the better) and hunting and fishing. The best part is doing any of the above with my kids!

I have weapons in several other calibers but I don't load for them. Then there are .22LR in both pistol and bolt action.
Operating a ranch is a whole lot of work. Closest I've come was several decades ago when my wife and I raised quarter horses. We handled them from the time they dropped so that both breaking them and use by kids was easy as pie. But mucking stalls for as many as 30 horses was no fun at all

You weren't kidding when you said you reloaded! I'm assuming you do this for the public? I stopped loading due to time constraints and I just found it easier to use other peoples loads.
We raise some horses here, nothing terribly fancy, just "good, sound" using type horses we can rope and work cattle on. Sounds like you know what's it's like to be in the livestock business.
Have a great Memorial Day weekend.
