Hey Dean, cheer up. It's the last Sunday of tax season. You and I both have next Saturday and Sunday off.

However, a Mitt Romney could rally quite a few Republicans. What have I been missing here on the West coast?
Romney's a competent governor, but I'm not sure he's presidential material. If you wanted a Massachusetts Republican, Weld or Celucci would probably be a better bet - though they might have problems winning the primary.

Progressives often think conservatives are simplistic and selfish; and Conservatives often think liberals are traitors to the American way of life ...
But political controversy doesn't have to be alienating. My wife is a financial officer at Merrill Lynch, and I hang around the university. Politically, we are in two different worlds. But we try to stay away from political controversy when socializing with friends and clients. We have some heated discussions among ourselves, but with a sense of humor. It's fun!

But she wouldn't let me put a Kerry sticker on my car last year, because she drives it sometimes. Doesn't want to upset the Aggies Actually on most issues she is more of a moderate.

I have learned a lot from her. America was designed to tolerate and even to promote diversity of opinion. I think it's a positive not a negative feature of our culture. Let's celebrate it!

I'd agree that most of the time political discussion doesn't really have to be painful. Most points of view can be represented without becoming overly personal. But, when issues of life or death start to come into focus, it's usually hard to avoid the pitfalls.

Just my opin.

It all depends on the attitude of the people in the discussion.

^ I'll agree with that, Rob. My point, I guess, is that life/death issues are the things that people take personally in political discussions.

Hey, get back to work!

Yesterday I went from 6:45 AM to 12:15 AM. I got home at 12:45 this morning. I was back here at 7:30. I'm just taking a little break.

Aren't you glad I'm not doing your taxes today on 4 hours sleep?
