How did you decide?
Hmm Scientific...Well besides loving hondas and owning quite a few. I was wanting something a little sporty. Didn't have to be a convertible. My last honda was a 94 prelude that I bought in 97 after college graduation (I'm not into buying new cars, unlike my buddies that first thing after graduation spent 30-40k on a car) After a few years it was time to get another Honda. Most likely another Prelude 97+. But this was summer of 99 and my cousin up in Montreal calls me up if I was interested in some new demos they had. He works for Honda of Canada. Well when I got there I didn't even believe it was a honda. After pinching myself for 10mins I knew right then and there that I wanted one. Unfortunately the cheapest quote I got was $37,500. So I figured I wait it out for 2years when they get leased back or used. Well after saving up for 2years and seeing that used were going for 25k I decided that new was worth 5k more, so I jumped at it and bought my Sebring on the last day of 2002!
1) My wife and I love convertibles.
2) Had a 240 Z before kids, always wanted another sports car.
3)Love Honda automobiles, have had one in the family since purchasing a 1980 Accord. Wife drives a 2002 Acura TL Type S.
4) Like Grannyrod stated, always felt if Honda made a roadster, I would buy it.
5)Test drove the BMW 3 series convertible and the Z4, liked them, but felt the S was a better value.
6) Due to some circumstances in life, decided life was to short to postpone the purchase.

Started out with car bug, went looking at BMW 3 series, then looked at Acura TL, then looked at Lexus (my wife said this is like riding on our leather sofa & yawned), and a couple of others. My wife has always like the Miata so I thought we could look at that. Picked up the paper & saw an S2000 told my wife lets go see what thats like. We went to the guys house to look at the S & he went through the entire car with us, even talked about the tires, & got out magazines to show us articles on the car. Reluctantly, he let us take it for a drive. We took it out for a drive with both my wife & I taking turns. Took the car back told him thanks & left.
My wife said, after we got in our car, "can't I take it home." Since I knew we both had company cars I just smiled

Well, I wanted one since before they were introduced when I first read about them. As a long time Honda fan from my fourteen years (in my past life) in the motorcycle industry, and having owned three Honda cars the last of which was an 1986 Civic Si that we put 253,496 miles on with out ever having the engine apart I am a die heart Honda fan. Coupled with our Honda lawn motor that starts everytime and being familiar with their F1 Magic, getting over a thousand horse power out of a 1.5 litre engine. Riding my favorite motorcycle which in many way resembles the innovative technology used to create the S2000 engine. Jack shafts that enabled a 43* lean angle on an in line six cylinder motorcycle that produced 103 HP out of a 1047 CC engine back in 1979!Like the S2000 once one learned to ride (drive it) it was very rewarding!
I have always had sports cars or performance cars. Always. I was tired of campaigning antique British stuff. I wanted something modern that I could autocross in a stock class with some chance of success. I wanted to keep it under 30k. I looked at and test drove C5 Vettes used, BMW MRoadsters used, a new Miata and the new Honda. I chose the Honda because I liked the balance of the car and the high output of the engine. I also liked the high redline that reminded me of the way some european sports cars of the 50s and 60s made power when compared to the low reving American muscle cars of the era. If it hadn't been for the autocrossing factor, I may have gone with the M Roadster. The power of that car is fantastic.
I saw one on the showroom of a local Honda dealer 4 years ago. It was love at first sight. I said to myself then that that would be my next car. June of 03 it was. The surprise was that it turned out to be a world class sports car. I still can't believe it.
Was looking for a new car and knew I wanted a convertible. So, tried out a mercedes slk 230 and was totally disappointed with the way the car handled -- no sports car feel at all. I'd owned an MG back in the day and was looking for that kind of feel. So, +1 told me to try out the s2k. He had done reams of research and knew about the car, but I had no idea what it was like at all. I went to the Honda dealer's and got in for a test drive -- One block down the street, I called my husband on my cellphone and said, this is it -- so no science was involved -- only pure emotion. He bought it for me as my Valentine's gift -- so her name is Valentine.

awww...that's so swweeet....
