Default How to get rid of stray cats?

Well, 2 kittens seemed to have "adopted" our backyard as their home. They are staying under our deck. We don't feed them or do anything to "encourage" them to stay, but how do we get rid of them? They are not collared so I don't think they belong to anyone. What is the best way to chase them out? When I go out to the backyard, they just hide under my deck. On the plus side, I think when the cats are there, other animals (like possum or skunk) will not come to live under our deck. Any advice?

Enjoy the kittens?

Or maybe wait for the mother and see if she has a collar.

If you don't want them, put some food in a humane trap, take them to a local animal shelter....or call local animal control for advice.

We are having problems with birds here at the beach. Seagulls, Geese and Blackbirds are constantly doing their business on our lawn, roof and porch furniture on our patio. I did put some fake alligators on the patio as advised by our landscaper and so far they are doing their job. Owls do not work. If they get used to the gators I'm looking at getting a low velocity pellet gun. I just want to sting them not injure them. The 12 gauge may be a little overkill.

I have a neighborhood cat that has used my shed as it's home for quite a while. I use to try to discourage it from going under there. I finally gave up, but haven't seen it for awhile so maybe it left.

We have 2 strays that have lived thru the last winter. the survival ability of a feral cat is just amazing. I thinks cats are misunderstood they really are marvelous animals. Get a have a heart trap, trap them and give them a chance at a good home.

We trap dozens of adult feral cats here every year, using a Haverheart trap. They are easy to catch, but you can't recatch them if you release them. Though people have tried, nobody has been able to civilize one of the adult cats, though most were born here. At 5-7 weeks, you can catch and make a pet out of the young kittens. After they are 3-4 months old, good luck; they'll not be normal or desirable pets. If you have had luck with stray cats or older kittens, I doubt they are/were feral.

I will agree with that hence the strays are still around. At their age they are not adoptable but due to having a soft spot for cats the wife does what she can to help them survive.

I don't want any cats as pets. Besides, I think these are outdoors cats and they will not be happy in the house anyway. I will call animal control to see what they have to say. Does anyone know if the humane society have traps on loan? I have no use for a trap after I get rid of these kittens, so I don't want to buy a trap ust for this. I have no idea how they are surviving since we don't feed them or know of any food source in our backyard.
