Default How observant are you?

It will be interesting to see how people fair with this quiz? The claim is that the average person only gets seven answers correct. Recently, when I e-mailed this to almost one hundred of my friends, I found that their responses where much higher.

After you take this quiz it would be interesting if you PM'd me. I can compile the scores and report the Vintage average. If you PM me, I will honor your privacy as to your score. I would anticipate that Vintage members will do better than the average.

The average person only gets 7 correct.

This is based on U.S. info, so use all lobes of your brain.

This can be more difficult than it looks-it just shows how little most of us really see!

There are 25 questions about things we see every day or have known about all our lives. How many can you get right? These little simple questions are harder than you think--it just shows you how little we pay attention to the commonplace things of life.

Put your thinking caps on. NO CHEATING! NO LOOKING AROUND! No getting out of your chair! No using anything on or in your desk or computer!

Can you beat 23 (The average is 7) Write down your answers as you go. Check Answers (On the bottom), after completing all the questions.

Remember-No cheating!!! Be honest!!! That means no looking at your phone or anything on your desk.

LETS JUST SEE HOW OBSERVANT YOU REALLY ARE.

1. On a standard traffic light, is the green on the top or bottom?

2. How many states are there in the USA? (Do not laugh, some people do not know)

3. In which hand is the statue of liberty's torch?

5. What two numbers on the telephone dial do not have letters by them?

6. When you walk, does your left arm swing with your right or left leg?

7. How many matches are in a standard pack?

8. On the United States flag, is the top stripe red or white?

9. What is the lowest number on the FM dial?

10. Which way does water go down the drain, counter or clockwise?

11. Which way does a "no smoking" sign's slash run?

12. How many channels on a VHF TV dial?

13. On which side of a women's blouse are the buttons?

14. Which way do fans rotate?

15. How many sides does a stop sign have?

16. Do books have even-numbered pages on the right or left side?

17. How many lug nuts are on a standard wheel?

18. How many sides are there on a standard pencil?

19. Sleepy, Happy, Sneezy, Grumpy, Dopey, Doc. Who's Missing?

20. How many hot dog buns are in a standard package?

21. On which playing card is the card marker's trademark?

Dial?

9. What is the lowest number on the FM dial?
Another dial?

12. How many channels on a VHF TV dial?
Still more dials.

17. How many lug nuts are on a standard wheel?
There's such a thing as a "standard" wheel?

Just how old is this quiz?

Yes

Like a Ford F150 or a Chevy 1500 will have a certain number of lugnuts. And the heavy uty trucks (F250, 2500) will have one more. Almost all cars in America have this number. So I would call that standard.

I assume the word "dial" is used just to indicate the range. Remember this is vintage. Every single person over 40 has used a dial, unless your parents locked you in a closet until you where 25 (and you just turned 40).

Helps to be vintage to know some of the things, like Campbells soup can colors. If it was for the young, they woulda asked the colors on a hot pockets box.

OK. I've owed cars with 2 different lug counts, and know of yet a third count that was used in the US. I guess I'm not observant enough to have noticed if one of those is used on 98% of cars.

The question was silly, especially since we all have cars with one more lug nut per wheel than most econoboxes. And how about BMWs? They don't have any lug nuts at all!

I just posted it the way that I received it on the Internet. I took it for "face value" never questioning who set the standards as to what a standard wheel is ? I assumed a passenger car. As this is the Vintage forum, I assumed that people would understand a "dial" either on a telephone or a TV. I guess that I was wrong.

I am always stated that when I am wrong I will accept reponsibility for being so.

I think the questions were fine, I have no complaints. I was wondering about the answers. We could cut the questions and answer them if you would like before you put the answers up.
