Why people do what they do is very complicated. They make decisions based on what they find the most comfort. The idea that Maureen Dowd can pass judgment, good or bad, TO ME, is nothing more than a soap opera level of voyeurism. I have said before and I will say it again. Until Maureen Dowd, or for that matter any one, is willing to discuss his or her most private feelings, it is between them.

If she wanted help to get out of where she is, I am sure she would let it be known, as she is a fairly public figure. But again, that is simply my opinion.

It amazes me this post hasn't been moved to politics. I wonder why?
That's where it belongs. It's about a man running for office who shows off pictures of his body parts and his wifes approval of it. Furthermore she works as a political assistant for a big Democrat. She's also a muslim with ties to foriegn muslim organizations.

I repeat, I wonder why this isn't in politics where it belongs.

I repeat, I wonder ...
I know this is the Vintage forum and all, but I'm pretty sure the repetition isn't really all that necessary. Everyone probably heard it the first time.

It hasn't been moved because it hasn't really strayed deep into a political discussion. Most everyone has recognized what the OP wanted to discuss which really wasn't much about politics, but rather more about human behavior. And most everyone has stayed on point with it.

The OP stated: "Please, this is not about Anthony Weiner or any other politician, nor is this a political thread. It is about why women stay with abusive men."

If you really want to try and drag this thread into a political discussion, by all means, continue to stray off topic and post more like what you posted above. That will prompt a request for it to be moved due to your insistence on taking the topic someplace the OP never intended it to go.

Respectfully, the only reason this discussion exists is her husbands run for Mayor of New York and his personal indiscretions.

The handling of those issues, including his removal from the US Congress and the subsequent behavior which involves his run for Mayor and his wife's endorsement of that behavior make it a political issue.

I don't know why women stay with abusive men. I've never been able to understand it. In this instance however I think I do. It's all about political power not morality.

I believe there are many things I'll never understand about human behavior until I've had to "walk a mile in their shoes."

Don't you agree with that for yourself, too, fltsfshr?

You're right but there are some shoes I'd never walk in.

We all make value judgements about people. If your daughters were recieving pictures of Anthony's weiner (pun) and his wife was publicly condoning it for political purposes where should the discussion be?

I don't know why women stay with bad men. I don't know if women who stay with bad men are good women or bad ones. I suppose there are some of each. It seems a bit presumptive in a political fashion however to brand her a good woman. I wouldn't let either one of them near my family.

That's why I think this thread belongs in politics.

I think we're talking about good or bad men and good or bad women. I don't see anything to do with politics except that you keep bringing it up.
