Unhappy Hydric acid

Exposure to this stuff can destroy your car, cause injury or death, it is a strong universal solvent, and unfortunately the EPA has no plan to regulate it's production or use.

There is an ongoing spill nearby my house that is causing no end of problems.

I found a website that has information on this substance with appropriate cautions and links to more information:

Tom

What do you mean by "ongoing spill".

There are several storage tanks of this stuff not too far away. Due to concerns over possible rupture of the tanks when winter arrives there have been efforts to reduce the quantity of material in the tanks. This has caused spillage in the area, and it seems to not yet be resolved. The authorities are aware of the situation but so far it continues to be a problem.

As of yet there has been no news media coverage of this...

Did you notify your local (state) EPA? They are usually quick to move on this kind of thing.

Hi Rob,

No, doing that wouldn't do any good, there seems to be no interest from them in this sort of thing. I'm concerned that the chance of rain today through Friday could only aggravate the situation.

Have you looked at the link I posted?

Hmmmm... I've been researching this stuff and it seems that it's also an addictive substance, and is commonly available via underground channels. Here's a website on that topic:

BuyDMHO

I just hope the mess near me can be cleaned up sometime soon...

I would be very careful with that stuff. I've heard that it can bring on the onset of osmoregulation.

DHMO-I remember this from chemistry class, if I remember correctly, this stuff is pervasive, it seems to be everywhere.

I do know that most water supplies are heavily contaminated with it.

We're being deluged with it today -- I'm worried about my pets becoming contaminated with it -- the smell is horrible when that happens. It coats their fur and when they bring it in the house -- egads!!!!!! [SIZE=1]Where is the epa when you need it??[SIZE=1]
