Default Hydrogen vehicles

At the 45.40 mark on this show they start a discussion about hydrogen that I found interesting - especially the point about the fuel tanks.

I have personly been a supporter of hydrogen powered internal combustion engines as well as CNG (compressed natural gas) engines instead of the big push to direct current battery powered vehicles.
Hydrogen and CNG is now being wasted and burned as a byproduct of the petroleum industry due to public (misinformed IMO) resistance to storage facilities and pipelines.
Hydrogen and CNG have a virtually nil impact on the environment unlike the significant damage (to both slave labor and the actual earth) resulting from battery manufacturing.
No substantial changes to the basic electric infrastructure is needed.
Instant recharge from "filling the tanks" unlike waiting for electric charging.
You can switch (literally) from gasoline to hydrogen or CNG as the consumer desires or needs.
Inexpensive and readily available. Easy to modify infrastructure unlike changing electrical service and increasing electric power production.

I hope they come down the pipeline soon, I would rather them than full electric, or a hybrid of the two.

I believe that hydrogen or CNG would be a good stop gap as the grid just can't take all of the electric cars.

Where do people think that electricity comes from? Ask my S-I-L when the last few years CA had brownouts and he couldn't charge his Tesla. He ended up buying a beater to get too work.

I large percentage of electric vehicle owners do not buy electric a second time, at least not in the current generation, who knows what the future will hold. Ford says electric sales are skyrocketing for them.

Elon Musk is the biggest critic of hydrogen, I wonder if he bet on the wrong team ?

Maybe the future will be dual fuel (gasoline, natural gas, hydrogen) coupled with electric hybrid, now that would be a game changer.

But the first hydrogen fuel cell that explodes/catches fire will be a tough day for the auto manufacturer involved, kind of like the first auto-pilot accidents and battery fires involving Teslas.

Instead of politicians legislating that “ we “ must be all electric by some point in time, how about letting innovation and enterprise take over by setting some standard to be achieved? That is, rather than say direct current storage is the way to go, how about low emissions or high mpg WITHOUT artificial CAFE standards? The old rule of pollutants per gallon we have in the USA is different than the pollutants per mpg that Europe has. That is why we make great engines in the USA only for exports only and tourists in Europe discover unreal gas mileage compared to the USA.

I have been banging the hydrogen drum for a while.
a few quick points.
Elon Musk is a brilliant idiot. He's going to get his butt roasted for crypto manipulation using company assets.
He's great from making edicts from on high that are pure BS. like his roadster with a rocket thruster, puh-leaze.

As for the production chip shortages.... blame the beauty and failures of Just-In-Time manufacturing, the darling of the productioin gurus.
It's wonderful right up until it isn't and you can't build anything.
