In an effort to get off tobacco I have decided to go to hypno therapy. I am really looking forward to this given the success rate. Has anybody tried this? My three hour appointment is at 11A this morning I'll keep everyone posted.

Rick tried it, with no luck. A friend tried it and never smoked again. Rick's appointment was only a brief one. Maybe they have new methods.

Rick finally quit using the patch and some gum.

Good luck, Maury!

I've never tired it. Had a boss once who had accupressure to quit smoking. He had little ball bearings that were placed on his ears somewhere and when he had the urge to smoke he's press or rub them. I think he quit that way. That was about 23 years ago.

A friend of mine smoked a lot, knew he should quit, but got lung cancer and died first. He doesn't smoke anymore.
Good luck.

I tried it. Not only did it not work, but now whenever my doorbell rings, I take off all my clothes and cluck like a chicken.

I had much better success with Chantix. I've been nicotine free since April 27, 2007.

Best of luck with whatever method you use, Maury.

Yes you were remarkably successful - so much so that you managed to quit a year before you did.

Congrats anyway. I need to quit again soon but I think I may skip the Chantix this time.

My mom tried hypnosis and hasn't had a cigarette since.

Mea culpa. Lack of sleep and leg pain have a tendency to make counting backward difficult for me. I knew it had been approximately a year and a half since quitting and I managed to skip over 2008 somewhere along the line. I'm thinking about doing the same with 2009.
