I need to break the routine

I'm still hitting the Y or another class four days/week after work. After that, it's dinner, a shower and then recliner.
I don't try to get much done during the work week. Laundry does get tossed in washer and dryer, one evening I go to Mom's after dinner, but the real chores wait for the weekend.

My employer has followed the general trend in the DOD business world and switched to a 9/80 workweek.
Mon-Thurs are 9 hour days and the first Friday is an 8 hour day with the other being an off day.
so over a two cycle you work the same as a 80- hours as 2 normal 40 hour weeks.
in short it sucks for the reason you mention Bill.
The extra hour steals the time to exercise or do something interesting.
So at the end of the day, it's veg city.
In the summer it was tolerable but now that were in the winter land of darkness again, it's even worse.

^ Haven't seen you posting lately...glad you are back!
I have gotten lazy when it comes to a good daily routine since Mother died July 1. I've been very busy with my parents' estate matters, of course, and just finished my own estate setup last week and putting accounts, car, etc into my new trust. But I'm not going out several times a day as I was for a long time to visit her (and my dad and Auntie in the years prior) and my exercise level has decreased. It is a radical change not to be caring for someone on a daily basis. In a sense I need to find a new purpose. So I'll be working on that in the coming weeks. I am trying to do a power walk every other day and jump on my mini-trampoline.

My employer offers a 4.5/40 or 9/80 only during the summer. My boss is pretty flexible, so if I need a 3 day weekend, I just don't leave early one Friday and don't show the next. If I want to get out for an early round of golf every Friday, that works too.
Having that available all year long unless you travel many weekends.
This is absolutely the worst 2 months of the year. Once Jan hits, the extra few minutes of sun a day seems to drive me towards the spring.
