Looks like it would be a bit rough on the street.
I was considering buying a long cockpit G4 about 10 years ago. Dare bought the rights from the Walklett brothers and produced a few models. The G4 used a 2.0 litre Ford Zetec engine. A friend in Knoxville had a G20 with a Miata drive train. The G20 was hard for fat old man to get in and out - NO doors. Production numbers never reached enough for the SCCA class that I was considering so I did not buy.

This one is down in Connecticut. Not too far away. Hmmmm.
I had fun chasing an Abarth Double Bubble through Central NY back roads with my X1/9 back in 2000. It was an Italian club outing. The Abarth owner purchased the car in 1964 and after 36 years was not afraid to tear up a back road with it. We left the Ferraris and Lamborghinis in the dust that day.

Why does this remind me of Romney's 10k blooper in the candidate debate w/Gov. Perry from TX?

Nice to see this thread is bringing back good car memories for some of you. It is fun to hear that some of you had encounters with these rare cars.

Please take a look at this e-bay ad for a TR-4.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1967-...item2a27c49748

Why is this special? According to the seller, it is all original. Not restored, not repainted, not repaired...original.

He has been trying to sell this car for a while. He started his campaign in the low 30s. The car is in my neck of the woods and I have seen it on Craigslist as well. I think his price has to come down a bit further. In my opinion, even the recent originality movement won't push the market price of a TR-4 to this level, unless you take it to a well advertised auction.

My TR 4a was red. I loved it! Kids came along, and I had to part with it, alas. I'd love to have it back.

The market for unrestored/original cars has steadily gone up, but maybe not to this cars level.

Well, let me know if you want me to go take a look at this one. It sure does look good. Driver's seat seems a bit rough, but I'd probably leave everything as-is. The TR-4a was a great little car and probably the best balanced of the Michelotti bodied cars. Still, everyone wanted a 6 cylinder engine and so that is what Standard Triumph put in them after 67.

The seat conditions don't seem to match the low mileage. No one ever thought to put some leather preserve on during it's 45 years of just sitting? If it was just sitting, wouldn't the top be up and windows rolled up. Did it sit outside all those years? If so, the paint would be worse.
