I saw a 2009 Carrera today--utterly beautiful. The new taillight treatment is a huge step up in design, the tires and back end make the car look a mile wide. They also put a strip of LED driving lights up front, ala the new Audis. Nice touch.

The GT is sooooo beautiful in person. It's beauty is only eclipsed by the exhaust note! That engine can blip from zero to redline and back in a milisecond! WOW.

ok so here is some trivia:
does anybody know why the vertical bars are in front of the windshield on the 300SL in this picture and what race it was set up for?
Buzzards at PanAmericana races in Mexico.

Those bars help with the buzzards, but not the burros. Wildlife in Mexico just love to hunker down on the warm asphalt at night.

O.P.P.O.S.
Ever heard this one before?
This was a Porsche Carrera 911's personalized license plate spotted in the PCA corral during a IMSA race many years ago. Those who know what it means probably agree.
Before the S2, a neo-classic Ferrari, was passed up. A pampered classic, barely driven just doesn't rev the fun-meter much.
When a Boxster S was available at a decent price, it was turned down also.

So, opting for the S2 instead. Great little car without the stigma of being over-priced.
Does this label fit, "3/4 scale Supercar". It's physical size & relative performance is where this came from. S2 Vints know how reliable, affordable, & sensible they are.
Go from high marks for styling, then add exceptional agility/nimble handling, real-time brakes, & a drivetrain that puts a smile on your face...what else is needed?

Or "7/8 scale Supercar", why not?
Cheers,

Hummmm, could it be Over Priced Piece of $hit. That would take guts to show up at a PCA corral.

Bingo dlg04
Correct answer 1st time, seems why to easy, huh?
This originated @ Port. Int'l. (early 70's). The O.P.P.O.S. question appeared in the following NW ALFA OWNERS monthly newsletter. Strange enough some time passed before the correct answer was known.
Very nice collection of vintage BMC's you have there. Which takes me back to memories of early 60's when my frat pledge & I skipped school, on a few good weather days, to go play (his MGA Twin Cam & my Austin Healey Le Mans). This was in Port. so such weather was far to rare before summer break.

Happy New Year to all! Be blessed by Life & Nature in 09.

Thanks. The early 60's was the Golden Age of Sports Cars in my opinion. I think the current period might be the Golden Age of Sedans - BMW 335I, Evo, etc.
