I kept telling my wife you don't have to chum for whales but she didn't listen.
Turns out she may heave ( eh it's a typo but it fits ) been the smart one.
While everybody else was on the sides and front of the boat looking for the whales, one popped up about 15 feet off of the stern where she and two other kids were.

personally I think the whales just felt sorry for them.
