My back has been hurting more and more. I sent my MRI results to Laser Spine Institute to see if they have anything they suggest. If they do I'll take their recommendation to my doctors with Kaiser. It occurred to me last night that maybe my big belly is why it's gotten worse. I surely should lose weight before trying back surgery! That's one motivator I should be able to stick with.

Yeah, I would avoid back surgery until all your other options have been exhausted. Do you know the cause of your pain? Disc deterioration, pinched nerve, arthritis? There are core exercises you can do to strengthen the back.

I have just put together two pans of lasagna to bake for a dinner tonight. Definitely not the most healthy eating, but it is certainly delicious! I just ate a bit of meatball and sausage. Yum...of course, I'm making garlic bread, too, which I hope to avoid somewhat. There will be salad, so that is good.

Bummer on the back issues, Patty. Hope it resolves.

Going to try to go to the Sunday PM Zumba class. Had to skip Thursday for an appointment and yesterday to get some things done. Yesterday, we used our gift certificate for the new Italian Restaurant so a Zumba class is needed. Kept moving this AM with some housework.

My back issues have been getting worse for over 12 years.

Part of the results from my last MRI done 3 years ago:
L3-4: There is mild bilateral neural foraminal narrowing.
L4-5: There is moderate/severe spinal canal narrowing at L4-5. Bilateral neural foraminal narrowing is also noted.
L5-S1: There is bilateral neural foraminal narrowing.

Patty, your result sound some what like mine were and I had surgery this time last year. The relief from the stenosis pain has been incredible. I have other issues which I have to live with. If you are able, do all the core strengthen that you can and yes if you can stay slim it will help.

Core strength training has really helped my misaligned disc. Tom Danielsen, a Tour De France stage winner, who had back pain recommended this book for these exercises. It has helped immensely and along with managing my weight I feel great.

New class will be starting at the Y on Mondays soon. Just from watching this video, I know there will have to be a TON of modifications for me. I've never done yoga or pilates on which this class is based. But, I'll give it a try. Most of the attendees in the class are not young women, and the instructor is wonderful showing modifications. It might be easier to give up chocolate!
