Glad for Tony but felt bad for the rookie.
he had the right set up in the right strategy and had the race gone the distance I think he woulda got it at the end.

It was a good way to spend a cold, windy, rainy day watching TV.

I really don't like the new spec racing for Indy cars. I don't care if they had a 200 lead changes. It seemed so NASCAR like to me. Honestly, I was bored through most of it, and fast forwarded my tape through a large part of it. The last 25 laps or so it finally got interesting. Good to see TK win but I'd prefer to see it under green conditions.

F1 this AM wasn't any better IMHO. Racing on streets where no one can pass. Dah. Great history but not a great race.

They were having a road race at the local MIS track - first one in many years. Boy, I should have gone but I needed to work on a boat but in the end I couldn't get what I needed.

Thankfully, the grandkids came over and there was basketball to play!

I for one was happy to see TK finally get his win. Munoz will have his chance another year. IMHO it would have been heart breaking if Munoz had won after TK paying his dues for so many years.

The story about his good luck charm brought tears to my eyes. And, as a long time Alex Zanardi fan it was good to see him at Indy. He is an inspiration if there ever was one.

It was very interesting news that Mercedes won its First Monaco GP. By a local kid, no less. Funny laws in Europe. Rossberg is considerd a German, he has lived his entire life in Monaco, I suspect because his father (also a German) took advantage of a Cayman Island sort of law.

The course has changed a lot and the cars have gotten so big that the thrill is missing. I was at the 1957 win by Fangio. Lots of passing, the 2 1/2 liter cars were a whole lot smaller than the F1 cars of today.

I met Fangio once. Always sorry I didn't get his autograph. Boy, '57 would have been GOOD.

It was. I was in the Army, so standing room on one of the corners was all I could afford.

Ferrari introduced (but didn't race it) the car with side mount tanks that greatly increased its aerodynamics. Not a lot of use for such folderall in Monaco. I think Moss was in a Maserati, I can't remember any of the other names/cars. There was Vanwall driven by (I think) VonTrips.

All of the photos I took there, as well as a number of birds on the beaches of the Riveria disappeared a few years ago (I think my wife had something to do with that)

Thanks Dave.

The one thing I really miss from the old races is the nonchalant attitude. During the race, some guy walking along side the track, granted on a walk way, but still within a couple of feet of the race track.

I guess that I got most of the players right, I sure screwed up the teams tho.

Thanks again.
