It may play here on a buydown then. A lot of older seniors would like to cashout and go smaller without paying an increased tax on lessor housing, especially those with fixed incomes.

Where I live most homes are puchased with cash rather than financing especially in the upper segment of the market.
I have wondered if reverse mtg's will become popular here as people age. Maybe they already are.

I guess that would retain the 'low tax' benefit, but the future heirs don't like Reverse Mortgages I have a friend in the business who is specializing in Rev Morts.....can be a salvation to elderly folks in certain situations. There are pretty high costs involved....
