any company that has partnered with Nissan has done poorly, not a good relationship to be in.

I agree. Nissan builds some interesting shit with great performance, they do not approach the refinement and precision of Honda

No such thing as mergers, only acquisitions. Who's the buyer, Honda or Nissan?

I owned a 82 280ZX, 85 300ZX, 87 240SX and a 90 Maxima. They were great vehicles but that was about 30 years ago. I also owned several Hondas including 2 S2000s, Accords, Civic and Preludes which were also great. I guess things have changed with Nissan since then. Family and friends have owned newer Hondas and they are still great vehicles.

I do hope Honda, Nissan and Mitsubishi join together to become the third largest automotive group. I have 2021 Nissan Rogue and have owned a few Hondas (S2000, Civic, CRV). So I would like to see this union. I am sure Honda will have positive impact on Nissan. It's hard to be competitive with Toyota and VW unless smaller companies join forces.

My take is this is not about competing with Toyota. Its about competing with China, Inc.

I always worry about mergers. So often the companies merging have different ideas as to how things should work and they never integrate. Before long the stronger company is stuck with a company it can't afford or make better.

yup, my earlier comment had nothing to do with Nissan quality or reliability, but whenever they have partnered with other companies it has not worked out well likely for the reasons you noted David.
