Default iPhone question

I have iCloud storage for photos but I do not want my documents stored in iCloud.

Is there another way to send a document from my iMac to my iPhone? They share the same messages and emails. I tried sending the document to myself via text messaging but it didn't work.

You might be able to plug your Iphone into your Mac and transfer files that way. I used to be able to put pictures from my Iphone onto my PC without doing a "backup" through Itunes, but I haven't dome it in a while.

Transfering a picture is no problem with air drop and the like; but mine transfer now automatically via iCloud. Documents would as well if I wished it to - - but its all or nothing and I elect the nothing.

That looks like a easy quick free process for misc. stuff but it means using a cloud service. The document I want to load is personal and I don't trust using a cloud service. The nice thing about messaging between two Apple devices is the message always encrypted, whereas an email is not. I'm thinking I might send the document by text to my wife (Mac to phone) and then have her send it back (phone to phone).

I happen to have a Gmail and a Comcast email address. So, I get onto, say, Comcast, and send an email with a document or image attached to it to my Gmail address.

Checkout AirDrop. You need to have Wifi turned on on your Mac. You can select a document in the Finder app and click the "Share the selected items" button and select AirDrop. Your iphone show appear as an option. Select and you should see a prompt on the iphone to accept it. It should ask you which iphone app you want to open it with

Harry, I too have both a Gmail and Comcast address but I'd like to avoid using an email if possible.

rbackhouse, that's a great sounding solution. I will try that one.

My Mac is too old for Air Drop. You need a 2012 or later Mac for Air Drop and my Mac is a 2011.
