It seems my $26 Samsung flip phone can no longer communicate with my Virgin Mobile network after they did the latest software upgrade. I was paying $25 every 3 months. So for a total of $100 I had cell phone service for a year. They charged me $0.18/minute to talk and I still managed to have an $80 credit when we parted company. I hardly ever used it. I love how this all happened while we were in FL were I might actually want to use a cell phone.

Oh well, seems we all have to accept change. I got an iPhone. Yeah, a smart phone. iPhone 7 for the unrealistic cost of $2.50/mo for 24 months. Yep, $60 for a new (not reconditioned) iPhone. Best part, since I became the #5 line on the family plan, so my monthly bill is $30 . . . but wait, there's more . . . because of my military service Version says I get $20/mo discount for life. Still working out the details on that one; hope its true.

I bought liquid glass screen protection for $42 which says if my screen breaks they guarantee up to $300 for screen repair. Maybe I should just sit on it to see it they stand by it. Plus I went all out and got a super thin fit case for a whopping $11 since it was rated highly on the internet, and we all know its true.

I know this phone has a great camera; since my wife has the same one. Apple will probably make it obsolete in a few years and that's when they stick it to you but for now, I guess I am happy.

Good for you Dave. Miracles do happen. I'm still using the iPhone 6. Happy with it. Hope FL was fun

Good for you...I still have my flip phone for calls. I also use it to text my rels who have Android. Got an iPad which I do like. I use that to text my Apple rels. And for FaceTime, etc. The +1 just got an Apple watch. He really likes it.

I don't envy you learning how to use it. It's a good thing Donna can teach you. They are super useful but the learning curve was very steep for me and my Android phone. I'm currently using a Pixel 3 Google phone.

Good decision going for the same phone as your +1. She can help you get used to you first smart phone. I would recommend you get Waze, a great Google maps based navi.

, especially regarding Waze. It has saved me from several traffic tie-ups with its suggested re-routing.

I have spent 6 hours today between Apple and Comcast trying to re-estable a Comcast email account on my Mac. I am still on hold with Comcast. In the past I set up my email accounts to use POP and the wife to use IMAP protocol. I could then delete hers on the Mac without deleting them from her iPhone. However, POP only works on one device so I'm forced to change mine to IMAP (the normal one everyone is likely using). No big deal, right? Wrong! I keep getting an error message saying it can't verify my user name and password. Trying to resolve this all day. I've been on my current call with Comcast for 1:25 and the tech person is waiting for support from higher up.

BTW, as far using the iPhone, I'm not far behind on the learning curve since I've solved my issues the wife has had.

I no sooner wrote that and Comcast finally got it working. Got 81 emails and another 500+ restored in the archives. The tech said she was almost crying when she heard it worked this time.
