Just take a couple Advil...
Rewind a little over 20 years.
We're in Vermont at my in-laws summer place on Lake Champlain.
The boys are 7 and 5 and are down at the water walking along the rocks when the younger son slips and falls in.
it's about 50 yards of swimming to get to where he can crawl out again.
From the house we hear a lot of commotion and go down to the beach.
Somehow when he was falling in, Jonathan managed to grab at the over head branches and found a hanging fish hook.
This got deeply embedded in his left palm. Next stop the ER at the medical center in Burlington.
Inept would be too kind to describe the staff, as they fumbled and futzed around using the wrong tools but they did have Novocaine which I didn't out at the camp.
I finally got frustrated and took over. ( for the record my degree says electrical engineer)
They originally came in with staples cutters which couldn't cut anything never mind a strong hook.
I sent them back and eventually they found proper cutters and a set of long tip forceps.
I cut the tail off and wrapped the hook back through a new hole.
Jon still likes fishing.
Sadly his old man would starve too death if he had to bring home fish every day.
I like it, I just suck at it.
