How about the Toro 21466T. 22 inch, electric and self propelled. $489.00 Battery is sold separately so will have to factor that price in.

I didn't spend much time looking but it appeared to be $120 for the battery and $50 for the charger. I'll pass on that.

I find it interesting how many complaints I've read about the need to worry about how tall the grass is, how electric leaves clumps or trails, how the grass has to be dry, etc. Maybe I'm not ready for the brave new world.

Another positive vote for EGO brand. I have been using EGO for the past 4 years after my gas powered mower died of compression issue. I have a backpack blower, 21" self propelled mower, hedge trimmer and weed trimmer. I bought them from Home Depot back then. I am thoroughly satisfied with all of them. The fact I never have to pull to start is simply great. Batteries are interchangeable so I always have more than enough power to finish the job. Another strong recommendation for EGO.

I have owned 3 Honda mowers and they were bullet proof and always started. When we retired I had a lawn and landscaping company take care of the lawn, fertilization, irrigation system and landscaping. They are very reasonable and knowledgeable. I don’t have the time anymore as the detailing business has grown. Besides, I don’t get paid for lawn work.

If the body and deck and motor are in good shape on your old mower than maybe your best option is to give it a tune and rebuild or replace the carb.

If you really can't hand start a gas model you're gonna be on the hook for something in the $700+ price range electric or gas for a self-propelled 21" width range. Cub Cadet markets a self propelled electric start mower in the $600 range and Eco models run in the $700 range. A lot of money to trim a ditch.

I have a Ryobi 40v electric that I use for touch-up on the front yard during peak growing season. For everything else, I have a guy. The Ryobi has performed well but will not handle taking more than a half inch or so off the top.

They do make several self-propelled models, starting around $350 including battery and charger. Home Depot carries them.

Batteries and Chargers are a ripoff.

I had a very nasty experience with Home Depot when remodeling our kitchen. I had them install a countertop. The installer put the seam about 6" from the sink and in the most visible location possible. An unbelievable location, that looked terrible. I had it taken out and took a 50% loss. Of course I went with another vendor. I refuse to give them any business. To top it off when I got my refund at their store they paid me many hundreds of dollars in small change.

I agree, its like new. Big issue is pulling the cord which at times is really painful when it doesn't start in a pull or two.

Heck, I have brand new Stihl hand blower (a brand I've had great experience with) that I hate for the same reason. It floods easily and often completely freezes up. Its only 7 months old and I'm ready to toss it out.
